I. PURPOSE
To provide a wholesome environment where children, ages 18 months through 9 years old can
receive developmental care during the hours of 6:30 A.M. until 5:30 P.M. Monday through
Friday.
II. ADMISSION PROCEDURE:
1. Admission to the day care center is open to children, ages 18 months to 9 years.
2. Interested parents should call the Director of the day care center to request that their
child be enrolled. If there is no vacancy the child's name will be placed on a waiting l
list. When a vacancy occurs the Director will notify the parents and arrange for a
pre-admission conference if parents are still interested.
3. Each child should visit the center at least once immediately prior to their first day of
regular attendance. Arrangements for this visit should be made with the Director during
the "pre-admission" conference.
4. All required forms must be completed and returned to the Director on or before the
child's first day.
5. The day care center reserves the right to drop any child from enrollment upon ten
days notice to the parents involved. If the staff determines the program is not meeting
the needs of the child or if the child's presence poses a threat to the welfare of others.
III. FEES:
1. Fees are due upon registration. Tuition is due by the 10th of each month. Please see
the director for the payment plan.
IV. ARRIVAL AND DEPARTURE PROCEDURES:
1. Upon arriving, the child must be signed in by an adult with the adult delivering the child
into the care of a staff member. This policy must be adhered to in order for our staff
to be responsible for the child safety. In addition, the parent or person authorized to
pick up the child must sign the child out each day upon his/her departure from the
center. A written arrival and departure plan for the child must be completed at the
time of enrollment.
2. Children will be released only to proper identified persons. The names of persons
who may call for the child must be kept current by the parents.
V. HOLIDAYS
1. The day care center will be closed on the following holidays: New Years (two days),
Memorial Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving (two days), Christmas (two days), Good
Friday, Martin Luther King Jr. 's Birthday, and the 4th of July week.
VI. HEALTH AND MEDICAL INFORMATION:
1. Current official shot record "Blue Slip".
2. Children must not be brought to school if they have any of the following; severe
colds, undetermined rash or spots, fever,severe headaches, upset stomach, or other
symptoms of illness. Parents will be notified to pick up children immediately if signs of
illness occur during the day. We ask you to keep your child home for 24 hours
following any diseases with the child's temperature over 101 degrees. This policy is
for the protection of every child.
3. Children may not be returned to school after a communicable disease until the
doctor has released the child of all symptoms.
4. Medicines cannot be given by the day care staff without a doctor's prescription and
the parent's written, signed and dated request. Patent medicines may be given with
the parent's permission and in accordance with the printed instructions.
5. Parents should keep current the name of the child's doctor and the name of the other
adults to contact in the event of an emergency if the parent cannot be reached.
VII. CLOTHING:
1. Children should wear comfortable clothes suitable fro indoor and outdoor wear.
2. All clothing should be marked with the child's name. This includes coats and
sweater worn daily.
3. Children must have a change of clothing at the center at all times.
VII. HOME - CENTER COOPERATION:
1. Children are provided with toys at the center. Children should never bring guns,
sharp objects, mouth toys, and other small pocket toys to the center.
2. Security toys are permissible.
3. Books, recordings, special toys, and other items of interest to the child's group may
be brought with the permission of the Director.
4. The center uses positive techniques of discipline. Praise and encouragement are
given for appropriate behavior. A child may, however, need to be removed from a
situation temporarily if he or she is unable to act in accordance with established
rules. Under no circumstances will the center use physical punishment or any
other procedure with might humiliate, hurt, or frighten a child.
5. Parents of the children enrolled in the day care center are invited to submit
suggestions for improvement of the services at any time. These suggestions
calling for changes in policies should be made in writing and given to the Director.
IX. EMERGENCY PLANS:
1. Medical Emergency
In case of a medical emergency with a child, an attempt will be made to notify the parents
immediately. If the parents cannot be reached or if the situation warrants, an attempt to
contact the child's doctor will be made and the child may be transported to appropriate
facilities to receive medical assistance. Parents will be responsible for medical
expenses.
2. Fire
Routine fire drills are conducted periodically by the local fire department and/or center
staff. In case of fire, we will follow the posted procedures.
3. Storms
In case of bad weather or storms, we will follow the posted procedures which is outlined
by the County Coordinator for Civil Defense.
4. Power Failure - Heat Failure
In case of power failure or if heat is temporarily not available and problems are
encountered, parents will be notified.
5. Bomb Threat
In case of a bomb threat, the evacuation of the building will begin with a routine fire drill.
The authorities will be notified and the Bomb Threat Procedure outlined in the faculty
handbook will be followed.
6. Lock In
After the arrival of the children in the morning, we routinely maintain a "lock in"
environment for the safety of our children.
We must have the following items at the time of registration:
1. Original Shot Record (Blue Slip)
2. Copy of Birth Certificate
3. Copy of Social Security Card
