Academiaademia
Academics and intellectual pursuits are a priority from kindergarten through
graduation.  The AISA’s President’s Award, honoring academic excellence in the
Alabama Independent School Association, was presented to CCA for 1994-1995 and
2001-2005.  Crenshaw Christian Academy is accredited by Southern Association of
Colleges and Schools (SACS) and AISA.   The student body is divided  into kindergarten
classes stress development of acceptable social behavior, dexterity, and pre-
academic skills that prepare youngsters to enter the first grade.  The ABeka
Curriculum is used in kindergarten through the 6th grade.  This system has an
outstanding history of producing excellent reading, writing, and math skills.  Science,
social studies, and art studies are initiated early and are expanded throughout
elementary grades.
Junior and Senior high school students develop skills in language arts and
mathematics.  They expand their horizons with elective courses such as honors
English, physics, physiology, accounting, chemistry and French.  The electives prepare
students for college and life experiences.  In high school, the ABeka curriculum  and
state adopted textbooks provide an accelerated curriculum, which allows seniors to
benefit from Advanced Placement exams, acquiring college credit while still in high
school.  For the graduates of 2000, the required curriculum  for a standard diploma
includes 4 years of English, history, science, and math (Algebra I and Geometry).  The
Advanced Academic Diploma and Advanced Honors Diploma require higher math and
science and two years of a foreign language.
